Agta

The Agta people of the Northern Luzon, Philippines, live as mobile or semi mobile hunter-gatherers in the mountain and coast of Northern Sierra Madre, Isabela. Like many Hunter-gatherers in the Philippines, deforestation associated with the expansion of Agriculture and growing Philippine population has had a significant impact on the distribution and demography of the Agta population. Currently there are between 1,500 and 2,000 Agta living in this area of Northern Sierra Madre, where they continue to live in small semi-mobile groups, depending on forest hunting and gathering as well as marine resources for their subsistence.
